"Their website says "We inform our patients about exam and treatment costs before your appointment." however, that was far from the truth with my visit. I was never told of any charges up front. I knew my plan covered the exam at 100%. At check out I was told they would put me as a cash pay patient since it would be cheaper than running it through my insurance. I said my insurance covers the exam. They said it doesn't cover everything. Fine, paid $152. Went to file with my insurance and they said THEY should have filed. Aetna even called their office to ask why they didn't file and informed them that visit would've been covered at 100%. They told them they didn't see any benefits when they checked. Different story from what they told me. I also called to question my prescription as there is zero strength on one eye, and a low strength on the other. The eye I expected to have the low strength was listed as PLANO (no strength). Instead of offering to double check this, I was told that's what it is. "

"Dr Baker is very personable and is thorough in his exams. The staff at Paragon is wonderful also, very friendly and all well trained. My husband also goes to Paragon and always mentions how great it is not to have to sit long in the waiting room…they are very considerate of your time when scheduling appointments. "

"Took my son in for new contacts. Since his prescription changed slightly, we were trying to decide whether or not to update his glasses (which he rarely wears). We were told that with our insurance the total cost would be $204 for glasses & contacts. A week later we picked up the glasses & contacts. I was surprised when they said we owed an additional $108 for the contacts. It appears that 'total cost' doesn't mean all that you will owe at First Eye Care. I told the office manager that we were told our total cost would be $204 for everything & that's why I decided to buy the glasses. The office manager was unsympathetic. She was incapable of making a decision because the Dr. Catuncan was out of country. She knew that the $108 pmt would cost her 3 patients, but she didn't care. She "couldn't give me the contacts for free." That's okay, there are plenty of other places in the DFW area for eye care with competent staff that won't mislead their patients. First Eye Care Bedford is not one of those offices. If you want to deal with competent staff that gives honest cost information upfront, I recommend you find someplace else. In addition, we have excellent vision insurance, so paying $312 for the exam, one box of contacts, and single vision glasses is extremely overpriced. This bad experience probably saved us a lot of money in the long run..."
