Cardiologists - Vienna, VA

"I went to see Dr. Kahn because of chest pain some years ago. She diagnosed it as mild pericarditis and prescribed a very small dose of amitriptyline which has worked for me. I have ever since continued to go through a battery of tests at her office once a year. I am now 65 and my dad had a massive heart attack at 53. I skipped 2022 because I had no insurance for a while. I recently went through her battery of tests and she identified an aortic aneurism (my cousin died of an aortic dissection), insufficient blood flow in 9% of my heart and diastolic dysfunction. I thought I was doing fine because my blood pressure is low, but apparently it is too low. I have an appointment with her tomorrow to discuss these new findings. I am glad I have stayed in her care. I will also note that I went through some financial problems in 2016 and she wrote off some of her fees without my asking. Now that I am on medicare, she gave me a heads up that she is not getting paid her usual and customary fees by Medicare and recommended a Part C plan for me. She said she would accept the reduced payment for 6 months to give me time to sort it out. Her staff, from the ultrasound technician to the billing clerk, are top notch. Up until recently she managed to jam everything into one visit. Recently, she has had to schedule multiple appointments as she was short a technician, but the quality has not changed. I have a follow up with her tomorrow to discuss next steps now that she has all the test data she needs. I would recommend her to anyone who has a heart concern. And I recommend anyone with family history not to wait until they have a concern. In fact, everyone should see a thorough cardiologist once in a while. I had a good friend who was in his early 50's, athletic and in apparently good health, but he never saw a doctor, and one day after a pick-up game of soccer in his neighborhood, he died on his drive home. He apparently had a congenital heart defect that had never been diagnosed. "
