I saw Dr Assad for 7 years, from age 14-21 and he simply has no time for his clients and if you do not get better, he voices to you that you’re “running out of medications to try” and makes it sound like he’s giving up on you.
Also told him I was depressed but only situationally one time and he said verbatim “of course he broke up with you, you’re transgender!” (It was not the reason I was going through the breakup)
He once gave me an unmarked bottle of a few pills and wrote on a sticky note what it was. No prescription.
I was developing narcolepsy from being on depakote (I was only awake for school. But I also fell asleep in my classes. All other hours were spent asleep.) instead of taking me off this medication he added a stimulant and made the stimulants stronger until I was making it through school but still sleeping through life. After a year I told him I have to stop because I can’t sleep through my life.
Stimulants were in the unmarked pill bottle I just had to trust the sticky note.
He spends less than 5minutes on average but no more than 10 minutes on each client. I understand he’s not a therapist but you could barely stutter out “I’m fine” before he says “fine? Great! See you in 6 weeks.”
I finally left when he had the “I’m giving up on you” talk with me after 7 years of trying many different medications and not succeeding in getting better. This only made me feel worse but I could NOT go back.
His associate dr rich does the same “pushing people out after 30 seconds”thing despite my hopes that he would be different. Same doctor different font.
Ultimately he’s unprofessional, lowkey sketchy sometimes, but he accepts your insurance! I promise it’s not worth it though. It’s like having a bad relationship but with a doctor.
