On the day of my appointment, Dr. Rettig didn't come into the office, so her office reached out to offer a video meeting. I didn't think too much about it, since I had already figured out my tendon problem and could explain it, so I did that in a 10 minute video chat. I told her what I thought the issue was, but she told me that she couldn't diagnose me or send me to PT without an in-person exam and X-ray, so I went in 4 days later. My diagnosis was just as I expected and I was prescribed PT. Then my insurance got the $266 bill for the 10 minute video call that was just to tell me that I had to come in, as I expected to the day that she didn't show up! I wrote to her at MedStar and heard nothing back. I'm furious at the bill and the lack of customer support. Terrible, terrible system that is all about any excuse to take even more money from a patient, even when I already had figured out what was wrong.
