Emily Cannon, FNP

My former Primary Care Nurse Practitioner left the practice shortly after the UVA acquisition and my spouse scheduled me for my regular visit with anyone who could see me. I had not been seen by NP Cannon before and just needed to be seen by another Primary care provider so that I could be evaluated and my normal medications prescribed to me again. Mrs. Cannon was fine but I felt slightly rushed through the appointment and her primary focus seemed to be wanting to collect a flu/rsv/covid swab prior to my leaving. The concerns that I brought up centered entirely around the fact that I wanted her opinion as to if I should see a specialist because this years cold/flu season has been extremely tough and I have been ill with various viral illnesses that have progressed into sinus infections and 3 repeated cases of conjunctivitis repeatedly over the last 90 days. I was not sure if it would be better to see an allergist or maybe just an ENT. I never really got a complete answer on this. Obviously I can always message her through mychart but I would have appreciated It a bit more if she had been able to fully address my questions or concerns in person prior to the end of the appointment. I am sure she was able to read my prior chart but I felt rushed in explaining my recent medical history up until that point and what all had been done procedures, changes in prescriptions from specialists etc. I am more than happy to continue seeing her going forward but If my further appointments go this way I may try seeing another provider.
