Arrived at 9:57 AM for a 10:00 AM appointment. Checked in and waited until 10:33 AM in the waiting room and went to the window and asked how much the Doctor is running behind schedule. I was told he was on schedule, and I pointed out I was a 10:00 AM appointment and it is now 10:35 AM. I was told I was next. Now the experience gets bizarre. A patient comes in and sits down. They call her in, so I think nothing of it. The patient turns to me to say she was not seeing the doctor. I said no problem. The nurse's aide Elana turns to the woman in a derogatory and mean manner and scolds her telling her she doesn't have to apologize to another patient. I was surprised and actually disappointed that the doctor's staff would speak to a patient that way. Three minutes later the aide Elana comes into the waiting room opens the exit door and tells me to leave stating you will not be seen because I made all the patients uncomfortable. There were no other patients in the waiting room. I went to the window and asked what is happening and the receptionist looked bewildered as she had no idea what the issue was. Elena again accosts me being verbally abusive. I asked to see the doctor to see why I was being discriminated against and not being treated after waiting a week for an appointment. I was told if Elana terminated my visit, it was with the doctor's approval. I left having wasted 1.5 hours of my day and not receiving the needed medical attention I certainly needed. Aetna listed Dr. Gates as a reproable physician in their network. I would NEVER recommend this doctor as he is obviously incapable of managing his staff. I have notified Aetna not to pay any claim they may make for payment as NO SERVICES were rendered. I am prepared if they do bill Aetna to file fraud charges. As a Doctor, I am appalled by his office staff treatment of the other patient and of course myself and his lack of punctuality or totally mismanaging his schedule.
