Hello,

My appt to see Dr. Bouchard was 4:00 PM, Thursday 02/13/2020.  On that day, I left work early at 3:30 PM and arrived at his office around 3:40 PM.  I walked in and stood at that receptionist window.  

The receptionist was looking at something and I could only see her left side of her body.  Waited a good minute or two before she acknowledged me.  She didn't turn around.  She just ask what my name was.  I relayed my name and my appointment time.  She then in the most "why are you bothering" tone asked me to provide my ID and Insurance Card.  I relayed I have my ID but I don't have a physical insurance card.  She then abruptly tried to dress me down telling me that I should have brought my insurance card.   That nothing can be done without the insurance card.  She asked who scheduled the appoint and seemed so motivated to shame me for not bring a physical insurance card.  I firmly replied back that I haven't had a physical insurance card for over 7 years.  Aetna provides an electronic image of the my insurance card and EVERY doctor's offices that I have gone to has accepted an electronic version of my card.  It didn't matter to the receptionist.  When I asked if I could email it to her, she replied the office doesn't have external email.  Yes, that was her reply.

She proceeded to call the poor representative who took my appointment to confirm what was relayed to me.  I was appalled.  I asked will you or will you not accept an electronic version of my insurance card.  She said no.  Then, I asked if I could chat with the doctor.  She went to the back and immediately came back and said she could accept the electronic insurance card and proceeded to provide me an email address.  My mind froze.  Do I want to see a doctor that employs such an unhelpful person?  Then, I thought I took time off just go ahead.  In the process of trying to email the insurance card, she then tells me that she went back and spoke with the doctor and the doctor requires a physical insurance card...that my appt has to be rescheduled.  My jaw dropped.  I told the receptionist I do not want to reschedule but I wanted to speak with the doctor.  She replied that the doctor is on conference call.  I said I will wait.  She replied that he has another appointment.  I asked why would the doctor schedule a conference call the same time as my scheduled appointment.  She mumbled incoherently.  Then, I had it and I left.  Unbelievable.  Really unbelievable.
