My PSA was elevated. Each time it went up he wanted to do another biopsy. Each biopsy showed there was no cancer. I had at least 5 or 6 prostate biopsies within a 2/3 year time period including a couple of saturation prostate biopsies (24 or more samples)... each time thankfully no cancer. I finally went to Columbia Presbyterian and the urologist I saw did an MRI of my prostate and also did a prostate biopsy in a very specific area of my prostate which also showed no issues with my prostate. His conclusion was that I have a chronic inflamation of the prostate and that my baseline PSA will have a higher PSA number. Where under Dr. Rome I would have to undergo aditional biopsies. He is a very smart and good doctor but too aggressive with doing prostate biopsies vs. looking for the reason why the PSA might be elevated.

Dr. Rome has been taking care of my kidney stones for several years.   He takes the time to review where we have been, and suggests future path.  There was time when I wanted to put off a decision and he had no issue with that.  My health is what he was most interested in.  Never have to wait long to see him either, usually running right on schedule or early.
